Chapter 4- In Memory of Beethoven

When the two cats woke up, they headed sorrowfully back to TabbyCat’s city to claim what Beethoven had left for them and to attend Beethoven’s funeral. They arrived half an hour earlier than the start of the somber event. The two cats prepared for the melancholy event. Meh wore a traditional black dress which wasn’t made to be pretty, it was made to show mourning and Tabby wore a black jacket, black trousers, a grey top and a black fedora. They walked over to the funeral in silence. TabbyCat was the going to be doing the speaking. She stood at the front and said to all the cats:

“May we remember Beethoven for his exceptional, outstanding and inspiring contribution to the world of music, may we forever remember him when we hear his pieces and may he watch down from the moon and stars to comfort him with the thought that we all loved him and we are all thankful to the contribution he made towards the
future. Thank you Beethoven. Thank you.” There was silence for 5 minutes. Tabby pulled her hat down in front of her eyes. Tears slipped down Meh’s cheeks. At the end of the silence, she looked up at the sky and whispered:

”Thank you Beethoven, I wouldn’t be here without you. I will avenge you, I promise.”

At the end of the funeral, Tabby and Meh went over to the castle to pick up what Beethoven had left for them. For Meh, there was all of Beethoven’s instruments and sketches of his 10th symphony. Tabby found a wide range of weaponary but there was one that seemed to stand out the most. The Holy Claymore of Beethoven. The blade and handle were pure white with a golden whole note engraved in them. The hilt was pure gold and encrusted in the very centre of the hilt was a diamond in the shape of two eighth-notes joined together. There was a little scrap of paper attached to it. TabbyCat took it off and read it.

Dear Tabby and Meh,

This is a sword which I crafted out of my love of music. It gives help to those who are inspired by music. May you treasure this as much as I treasured you. When you fight with this sword in hand, I shall fight by your side.

From Beethoven.

TabbyCat knew what she was going to do with this sword.

“Meh, could you come over here for a bit” called Tabby. Meh came in quietly with a sad look on her face. Tabby looked at her and handed her the Holy Claymore of Beethoven.

“I think that you... should have this. It’s ...The Holy Claymore of Beethoven. I’ll teach... you... how to use it.I’m sure Beethoven... would have wanted me... to teach you... how to wield this mighty weapon. I just know it.” Said Tabby. Meh looked at the sword. She picked
it up from Tabby’s paws. It was quite heavy.

“Here, put this on.” aid Tabby as she handed over some sort of belt with a odd shaped bag strapped to it. Tabby flicked through the dictionary and said: “Put it… on like a …satchel with … the bag part…at…the back. That is…where…the sword goes.” Said
Tabby trying as best as she could to pronounce the words. Meh did as she was told and sheathed the sword. Tabby explained to Meh how the sword had a holy and wind aspect and, because there’s no such thing as a holy type or a wind type slime, she could use the weapon against all slimes without having to worry about the slimes healing or growing.
