Chapter 5- The Toxic Waste Plant

TabbyCat and Meh left for Mehton. Meh held the Holy Claymore of Beethoven tightly in her paws along the journey. Beethoven had written a secret note to her on how to use it before his death, and Meh had told Tabby about this. There was a toxic waste facility near to Mehton created by the villagers from a nearby abode, who had long been dead. The toxic waste plant was shut down after it was invaded by black slimes who had no better place to make their new home. Black slimes had the ability to poison enemies and self destruct to kill even more enemies. The big ones were the worst, though. All black slimes could heal themselves from poisoning, but big black slimes could coat themselves in toxic waste generated inside their bodies to heal themselves! Meh thought about how disgusting it would be to be a black slime and became thankful that she was a cat and not a slime.

TabbyCat suddenly pulled Meh down behind a rock. Meh was about to ask why but then she saw it, the toxic waste facility. It was swarming with black slimes.

TabbyCat pulled out a tiny screen out of her backpack. It was only slightly bigger than Meh's paw! Meh watched Tabby tap on the screen and suddenly, a hologram was projected. It had a picture of a black slime on it, so Meh could only guess that it was a database with information on enemies, namely slimes. Meh glanced at it, but it was in Tabby's language. Excellent.

"Could you tell me what that says, please? I have never learned your language before." Meh said in perfect Mehnese. Tabby flicked through her dictionary for the millionth time and whispered her translations.

"'The Black Slime:

Weak against:

neutral, holy and water type substances.

Resistant or will heal against:

 dark and poison type substances.

 The smaller ones self-destruct
frequently, and poison enemies. The large ones are less likely to self destruct but they will poison targets and themselves to heal. In every community of black slimes, there is usually always one large slime, similar to a Queen Bee, that rapidly creates more and more black slimes.'"

Meh looked at Tabby and then at the toxic waste plant. She fingered her Holy Claymore that Beethoven left her. TabbyCat understood and held up three fingers. At the count of three. Three. (She held one down) Two. One. (She made a fist)Go!

Meh and Tabby charged into the dense hoard of slimes. Tabby had an RPG and demolished everything in her path. Meh wielded the Holy Claymore of Beethoven with ease and swung at the slimes with hate. But soon, the two realized that they were being overpowered: there seemed to be an endless supply of slimes! They were eventually surrounded, and had no escape. Still, they killed all the slimes that they could but to no avail. For more and more kept coming their way.

"There must be a big black slime that's creating all of these, if we take out the big slime, then we'll be able to get out of here!" Yelled Tabby, completely forgetting to translate into Mehnese, but miming. Meh the Cat didn't understand what Tabby had just said, but she remembered, from the enemy database, that there was one large 'Queen Bee' black slime that was sending its minions towards them. She nodded in understanding. Tabby ran further into the facility, blasting all the slimes in their path. Meh ran after her. Tabby and Meh ran deeper and deeper into the facility, chased by black slimes, until finally, they found the Queen slime. It was huge! It filled every nook and cranny in the crevice that it was in. It was already comparable in size to a baby whale, and was growing rapidly. The slimes that had pursued the duo were joining with the Queen slime to make it even bigger! It kept growing, and growing, and growing, and when the two cats were almost touching its venom-coated skin -

The toxic waste facility exploded - the slimes had self-destructed! Tabby and Meh were shot into the air like bullets nearly at the speed of sound. Meh adjusted her body into a more streamlined shape, to reduce the air resistance, and sped towards the ground, and landed feet first. Tabby had an umbrella in her pack, and floated down instead. The slime was still ridiculously large, although a portion of it had self-destructed.

"Meh, I think now... would be a good... time to... show you the... special ability of... the Holy Claymore of Beethoven." said Tabby, while rapidly translating from the dictionary.Meh grinned, despite their current crisis, and pointed the Claymore towards the sky and thought as hard as she could about Beethoven. "Beethoven, we need your help, this slime might wipe us out if we don't kill it. We need to get rid of the slime. Please Beethoven, please..." Meh's eyes were closed. Next to her, Tabby gasped: the Queen Slime was oozing towards them. It was less than ten meters away. Meh started to float gently into the air, while the Queen Slime was less than five meters away. The sword glowed brighter and brighter. The clouds above Meh parted, while Tabby was still on the rocks, pointing her RPG at the Queen Slime, but it did not hesitate. A gentle light shone down upon Meh and then the most amazing thing happened. The spirit of Beethoven came down from the sky.

Beethoven's spirit was huge! It was five times larger than the Queen Slime, which was now the size of a castle. Beethoven swooped down arms outstretched and a golden aura surrounded the slime, which killed the slime in an instant. A heavenly light broke through the clouds in little patches upon Beethoven. He turned to face the two cats. He nodded to them, and walked back up to the skies, while humming some tune, as if he saved two cats from giant black slimes every day. The clouds closed in again and it began to rain: lightly at first, then gradually harder. Meh had stopped floating. Her sword was still in her paws. She was sitting on the hard stone which had surrounded the ruins of a toxic waste facility. The two cats looked at eachother, they looked at the sky and they started to laugh. Lying on the stone, the rain pouring down on them, they just laughed. Meh was absolutely exhausted. The visit from Beethoven had completely drained Meh's energy. Meh smiled, albeit with tears pouring down her cheeks, as she thought to herself, "Thank you so much, Beethoven. It's twice you've saved my life now. Thanks a lot. It was great to see you again. I hope I'll meet you soon." At that, a sudden boom of thunder met her words, as if Beethoven himself was laughing along with them.
