Chapter 7- A Desert's Worth of Slimes

The group left the city and headed southeast into a forest. Sherlock led the way with a map and a compass in her hands. It felt as if they had been walking for at least two hours.

"We're about to head through a desert so be ready for any monsters." said Sherlock in English, then in Mehnese, still buried in her map.

"A desert! Maybe we'll see a dragon! Do you think we'll see a dragon? I think we'll see a
dragon." said Tabby in excitement. Her eyes glistened a little as she said that, as if it were her dream to see a dragon.

"I doubt we'll see a dragon. They're extremely rare." stated Mehler, then repeated herself in Mehnese. Meh soon began to think about dragons. What kind of dragon lived in a desert? Meh began to notice that out of their group of six, Brrelleg had not said a word. She was probably just tired. The forest soon ended and, the team came upon the desert. It felt like walking into an oven. The plants at the edge of the forest were brown and dead. The heat had pretty much killed them. They soon stopped.

"We should prepare ourselves a little. Get your weapons out, I'll get the database." ordered Tabby as she put down her backpack. Everyone else followed suit and started to rummage through them as if they were looking for something. Meh figured they were looking for their weapons so she pulled out the Holy Claymore of Beethoven and started to look at what everyone else were doing. Sherlock took out some sort of magnifying glass. It had an orangy-red handle and an orange lining around the lens. Brrelleg pulled out some sort of massive gun. It looked like a gattling gun without anything in it. Mehler took out a violin. It looked modern but Meh could tell that it wasn't. Mehler had clearly just recently polished it.

"I wonder how well she plays! Huh, I'm glad I received some lessons from Beethoven when I stayed with him. He even left me his violin that Prince Lichnowsky gave him! Wait, is she using that as a weapon?" thought Meh. She pulled her gaze to Shaimoustache who looked like she was having some difficulty pulling out her weapon.

"Here, let me help!" cried Meh as she walked over to Shaimoustache and helped her to pull the weapon out of the backpack. They pulled and tugged but it seemed like it was caught into something. Eventually, the weapon came out and Shaimoustache and Meh fell back onto the sand. It looked like some sort of pistol.

"Thank you very much," said Shaimoustache.

"No problem. It looks really heavy," replied Meh.

"That's because it is..." grumbled Shaimoustache, then she wandered off and began rapping. It sounded like: "I'm Zeus! Can you see my thunderbolt? Can you see my thunderbolt...' Meh coughed and

Meh returned to her spot and looked at the desert, which mesmerized her with the rolling patterns and shifting sands. There weren't any plants or animals for miles by the looks of it. Maybe they wouldn't run into any slimes out here.

Mehler soon called everybody over. Sherlock laid the map down on the ground.

"Here's where we are: In Blackbone desert:" explained Sherlock as she pointed to a point on the map, which had a marked circle right next to it, "we're right next to a Slime camp and I believe that there will be yellow slimes there." continued Sherlock.

Tabby didn't appear to be listening. It seemed that she already knew this. Meh had never seen a yellow slime before. Maybe they only lived in the desert?

"There is a small chance that there will be a dragon in the slime camp. Meh and Tabby are the only ones who have weapons suited to take out yellow dragons so if we see one. Meh, make sure you're prepared to take it out with Tabby. The rest of us will try to eliminate its minions: Electric golems which the dragon will most definitely summon. But remember this: we're here to take out the slime camp, not a dragon. If the dragon is too powerful for us then leave it. Be on the lookout, the slimes will probably be underground so if you see any movement, and it's not one of us, then tell the rest of us. Got that?" said Mehler. Everybody nodded, except for Meh.

Mehler and Sherlock quickly pulled her aside and translated what they had said, while everyone else picked up their bags. They all continued plodding through the desert. It seemed to be endless. Meh was worried. "If the slime camp is underground then it could run through this entire desert, which is huge. We could be up against a whole desert's worth of slimes."
